Somalia, 28 October 2025 — Somalia received 148 refugees repatriated from Yemen on Monday evening at Aden Adde International Airport, marking the second batch of returnees this month. The first group returned on 9 October 2025.
The operation was conducted via a direct flight in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR).
The National Refugee Agency coordinated reception efforts, providing temporary shelter, food, and support to help returnees reintegrate into their communities.
The repatriation is part of a broader government initiative to return up to 1,000 Somali refugees from Yemen by the end of 2025.
Ibrahim Guure Mohamed, Director of the Diaspora Affairs Department, told Somali National Television:
"We are accelerating efforts to ensure that by the end of this year, the full plan to repatriate 1,000 Somali citizens from Yemen is completed."
Officials emphasized that the government remains committed to facilitating safe, orderly, and dignified returns.
They also committed to work closely with international partners to support reintegration and provide essential assistance to returnees.
