Somalia, 4 October 2025 – A car bomb attack occurred this afternoon at a NISA-linked facility in the Banadir region, known as Godka Jilicow, carried out by Al-Shabaab militants.
Somali National Television confirmed the attack took place around 4:40 PM, when armed Al-Shabaab militants used a vehicle disguised as a military vehicle to gain access.
The television station reported that several of the attackers were shot dead, and the fighting is still ongoing.
"Some of the militants have been shot, and the final operation to neutralize the group that carried out the attack is currently underway," said a statement from the government's television station.
Although Godka Jilicow is not the main NISA headquarters, it is a significant site where NISA operates, handling various functions such as investigations and managing defectors.
Independent sources have yet to confirm the casualties from the attack, and there are no official figures on deaths and injuries.
Former Somali President Sharif Sheikh Ahmed strongly condemned the attack, stating it was aimed at disrupting the security and stability of Mogadishu.
"I extend my condolences for the losses caused by the terrorist attack and encourage the security forces and the public to further strengthen their cooperation in ensuring security and preventing suicidal attacks," said Sharif.
The attack on the NISA headquarters comes at a time when several roads in Mogadishu that were previously closed have recently been reopened, and the government has stated that the security of the capital is improving.
