Mogadishu (Dawan Africa) – The Banadir Regional Administration has directed all schools in the region to raise the Somali national flag, aiming to strengthen patriotism and national identity among students.
The order, issued by Banadir Governor and Mayor of Mogadishu Hassan Mohamed Hussein “Muungaab,” requires every educational institution to prominently display the Somali flag on its premises.
According to the Banadir Education Directorate, the decision follows weeks of consultations with education stakeholders and is intended to instill discipline, pride, and respect for national values among Somali youth.
“The purpose of this directive is to foster patriotism and nurture students to grow with respect, discipline, and national identity,” the Directorate said.
To ensure compliance, the Education Directorate will conduct regular inspections to verify that schools are raising the flag. The monitoring process will also assess the overall quality of education and services provided.
The Directorate added: “Regular supervision will confirm that the Somali flag is raised in every school and will help evaluate the quality of educational services offered.”
The Banadir administration described the initiative as both symbolic and practical, reinforcing national unity while holding schools accountable for maintaining educational standards.
