Djibouti, 14 September 2025 – Djibouti and Tanzania have pledged to strengthen military cooperation to improve security and counter terrorism in the East African region.
The decision was made on Saturday at a meeting in Djibouti City between top security officials of the two countries.
The meeting was attended by Djibouti’s Defence Minister, Hassan Omar Mohamed, Armed Forces Chief of Staff, Zakariye Sheikh Ibrahim, and Tanzania’s Defence Forces Chief of Staff, Brigadier General Mohamed Souleiman, among other officials.
According to the Djibouti News Agency, the officials agreed to enhance collaboration in security, defence, and counterterrorism.
They acknowledged the strong relationship between the two countries which has lasted for many years.
Brigadier General Souleman noted that the military collaboration will provide an opportunity for the two armed forces to learn from each other.
