Seychelles (Dawan Africa) – Djibouti’s athletes triumphed at the 13th Indian Ocean Youth and Sports Commission (CJSOI) Games in Seychelles on Thursday, claiming seven medals, including three gold.
Kalid Ahmed and Suheb Abii dominated the men’s 3,000-meter race, securing the first and second spots. Xaawo Omar also clinched gold in the women’s race, with another Djiboutian athlete taking third place.
Deputy Chairman of the Djibouti Athletics Federation, Rooble Jama, highlighted the significance of the wins, emphasizing the pride the athletes brought to their nation. “We participated with two women and two men, and their success is a testament to their skill and dedication,” Jama remarked.
The CJSOI Games, held this year in Seychelles, featured youth athletes from Comoros, Djibouti, Madagascar, Mauritius, Mayotte, Réunion, and Seychelles, celebrating sports and regional unity. Djibouti's victories are seen as a key step in the country's sports development, inspiring further athletic achievements.
