Djibouti, 4 December 2025 — The Djibouti Ports and Free Zones Authority (DPFZA) made a strong pitch to an Ethiopian delegation led by Ambassador Legesse Tulu, showcasing the country's strategic location and competitive edge in the region.
During a tour of the Djibouti International Free Trade Zone by the delegation on Wednesday, the officials highlighted opportunities for Ethiopian Shipping Line (ESL) vessels to undergo repairs at Djibouti's dry dock, touted as the largest and most competitive in the Red Sea region.
They also pledged to deploy Djiboutian marine officers to ESL vessels, ensuring seamless operations.The officials also presented a sea-air cargo initiative, which proposes to use Ethiopian Airlines and RwandaAir to expedite shipments of goods arriving in Djibouti by sea to 28 cities across 25 countries.

The two groups also discussed the Djibouti-Ethiopia-South Sudan-Uganda (DESSU) corridor project, aimed at enhancing regional trade and economic integration.
DPFZA officials reaffirmed their commitment to supporting Ethiopia's logistics and trade infrastructure to pave way for increased cooperation and economic growth.
