Djibouti Gendarmerie Marks 48 Years of Service and Sacrifice

Djibouti City came alive yesterday with a grand celebration marking 48 years since the founding of the Djiboutian National Gendarmerie. Established in 1977, this elite paramilitary force has played a vital role in safeguarding national security. The anniversary event, held at the Sheikh Moussa Gendarmerie Headquarters, featured impressive drills and demonstrations, drawing attention to the skills and capabilities of the gendarmerie.

Prime Minister Abdoulkader Kamil Mohamed led the high-profile ceremony, attended by senior government officials, military leaders, and international partners. Guests witnessed an array of specialized military displays, including canine units performing advanced security maneuvers, showcasing the gendarmerie’s operational precision and readiness.

Colonel Zakaria Hassan Aden, Commander of the National Gendarmerie, delivered a powerful address, emphasizing the importance of the annual celebration as a moment to assess progress and honor the sacrifices of fallen heroes. "This day is a tribute to the bravery and dedication of those who gave their lives for the nation. It is also a time to reflect on the critical role of the gendarmerie in ensuring Djibouti’s safety and stability," he stated.
