Djibouti, 9 December 2025 — Djibouti is hosting the 16th edition of the African Digital Economy Forum, with this year’s focus on the growth of the digital economy and its role in the continent’s commercial integration.
The forum, which opened yesterday in Djibouti City was chaired by the Minister of Commerce and Tourism, Mohamed Warsame Diriyeh. Government officials from various African countries and private sector representatives are participating in the event, according to Djibouti’s news agency.
This year’s forum is themed ‘Harnessing the Digital Economy and Innovation to Boost Intra-African Trade and Sustainable Development,’ focusing on the infrastructure, training, and investment challenges necessary to support the continent’s digital transition.
Speaking during the opening ceremony on Monday, the President of the Djibouti Chamber of Commerce, Youssouf Moussa Dawaleh, said Digital economy is a crucial catalyst for building a rising Africa, calling for an increase in private sector involvement.

Echoing Dawaleh's plea, Minister Diriyeh urged participants to be part of building genuine partnerships to transform digital innovation into economic growth.
“This forum is a unique platform to strengthen the economic ties between African countries,” the Minister said.
The three-day forum will feature high-level panel discussions focusing on the competitiveness of Africa’s private sector and the new opportunities offered by the digital economy.
