Qatar, 15 September 2025 - Djibouti President Ismail Omar Guelleh is urging Arab and Muslim states to act against Israel’s aggression in the Middle East.
Speaking at the emergency joint summit of the League of Arab States and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation in Doha, Monday, President Guelleh described the recent Israeli airstrike on Qatar as an affront to the Arab-Muslim world and a violation of international law.
“This is an aggression against every Arab and every Muslim and a blatant challenge to international law and our common humanity.”
“On behalf of my country, I express my deep indignation and strongest condemnation of this aggression,” he said.
The emergency summit brought together leaders from Arab and Islamic states to address the airstrike that targeted a building housing Hamas leaders.
President Guelleh also highlighted Qatar’s longstanding role in diplomacy, humanitarian efforts, and advocacy for justice.
He described the country as “a beacon of peace, a refuge for the oppressed and a constant voice for justice,” calling any attack on the Middle East country “inadmissible.”
He stressed that the summit should go beyond issuing statements, urging member states to create mechanisms for accountability and coordinated action.
“This summit should serve as a crossroads for establishing an independent international accountability inquiry,” he said, adding that it should also form “an Arab and Islamic collective reaction framework.”
President Guelleh called for unity and divine protection for the region.
“May divine protection be upon Qatar and all the Arab and Muslim homeland, in the hope of the victory of truth and justice.”
The summit comes at a critical time as tensions rise in the Gulf and the wider Middle East.
The leaders are expected to discuss coordinated diplomatic, humanitarian, and security measures in response to Israel's actions, as well as steps to strengthen regional solidarity.
