Qatar, 26 October 2025 — Djibouti and Qatar have today signed new agreements to enhance economic and diplomatic cooperation.
The deals were signed by Djibouti's Foreign Minister, Abdoulkader Houssein Omar, and Qatar’s Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al-Thani, in Doha.
The agreements focused on regional stability and economic cooperation in the Gulf of Aden and the Horn of Africa.
The two countries agreed to establish a Joint Djibouti-Qatar Commission to oversee and deepen bilateral cooperation, and also come up with a framework for regular political consultations to align on regional and international issues.
“The countries share a vision for a peaceful, stable region,” said Minister Abdoulkader following the meeting.
According to the Djibouti News Agency, Minister Abdoulkader also met with Qatari Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al-Muraikhi, where both discussed upcoming agreements, including visa exemptions for diplomats and collaboration between diplomatic institutes.
The agreements will be formally signed during the next session of the Joint Commission, Djiboutian officials said. The visit is the first official mission by Minister Abdoulkader Houssein Omar since his appointment.
