Djibouti, 20 November 2025 — The Djibouti Agency for Social Development (ADDS) has signed partnership agreements with eight local community associations to strengthen youth nutrition and wellbeing.
The agreements, signed during a ceremony at the ADDS headquarters on Thursday, form part of a programme funded by the Government of Japan and administered by the World Bank.
The initiative, under the project 'Mobilising Communities for Better Nutrition', targets youth activities focused on nutrition, health awareness and social development.
The participating organisations — ATU Yoo Fan, Q11 Associations Network, Qassa Wada, CAB, FICIL, Al Fowza, Kilissa and Hogo-Gaal — will receive a combined total of 85 million Djiboutian francs.
The funding will support the establishment of youth clubs for approximately 1,500 adolescents in the districts of Arhiba, Bache à Eau, Qarawill and Wahle-Daba in Djibouti-ville and Balbala over a one-year period.

Local officials, including the Deputy Mayor of Djibouti and the heads of the Balbala and Boulaos municipalities, attended the event and highlighted the importance of expanding learning and prevention spaces for young people.
They emphasized the need for continued awareness initiatives addressing nutrition, hygiene and healthy eating practices.
The ADDS Director General, Mahdi Mohamed Djama, said the agency remains committed to working with community organisations to strengthen programmes focused on youth empowerment, nutrition improvement, violence prevention, citizenship education and health promotion.
According to ADDS, the youth clubs will provide structured spaces for training, dialogue and mentoring, enabling participants to acquire practical life skills while improving their nutritional knowledge and health behaviours.
The programme is part of broader efforts to address social and nutritional challenges facing young people in urban communities across Djibouti.
