Djibouti, 4 January 2026 Djibouti has welcomed the call for dialogue made by the Chairman of the Presidential Leadership Council of Yemen, Rashad al-Alimi, regarding the planned conference in Riyadh to discuss the crisis in Southern Yemen and efforts to strengthen security in the Middle East country.
Djibouti, a neighbor of Yemen, described the step taken as significant in strengthening national dialogue within Yemen.
The Djibouti government emphasized that the Riyadh Conference presents an important opportunity to resolve the political divisions and longstanding conflicts in Southern Yemen.
Separatist group, The Southern Transitional Council (STC), is fighting for the autonomy of southern Yemen, a move that has worsened the prolonged conflict in the Arab country.

Saudi Arabia has shown its readiness to host the Riyadh conference, which is expected to involve all political factions from Yemen.
The invitation is particularly significant given Saudi Arabia’s central role in supporting Yemen’s security and reinforcing the country’s defense efforts.
The Djibouti government also urged all parties in Yemen to avoid unilateral actions or security changes that could undermine the prospects for political solutions.
