Wardheer (Dawan Africa) – The regional administration of Doollo has officially handed over motorcycles and medical supplies to health centers across six districts in the region on Monday, aiming to enhance the delivery of basic healthcare services to remote communities. The districts that received the support include Bookh, Danood, Galaadi, Wardheer, Lehel-Yucub, and Galxamur. A total of 8 dual-wheeled motorcycles were provided, funded by the Somali Region’s Health Bureau (DDS).
According to the Doollo regional health coordinator, the motorbikes are intended to help reach children in remote areas with essential vaccination services, particularly where vehicles cannot access and walking is not feasible. "These motorcycles were provided to reduce the number of unvaccinated children by reaching areas that are inaccessible by car or foot. That is the main reason for their delivery," said Najiib, the regional health coordinator.
The motorcycles and medical supplies were officially handed over to district authorities during a ceremony held at Wardheer General Hospital. This marks the third time that the DDS Health Bureau has delivered such motorcycles to health centers in the region, as part of efforts to improve healthcare access in hard-to-reach areas.
