Egypt, 29 September 2025 -The Egyptian government, has reaffirmed its support to Somalia's peacebuilding process.
in a statement issued on Friday, Egypt reaffirmed its commitment to to the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (AUSSOM), tasked with helping Somalia assume full security responsibility in line with the African Union and United Nations Security Council Resolutions.
The statement added that, in light of significant regional events in the Horn of Africa and ongoing internal developments in Somalia, as well as the Federal Government's efforts to enforce the rule of law and combat terrorism, Egypt is determined to strengthen strategic relations between the two countries.
This commitment builds on the declaration elevating bilateral ties to the level of a strategic partnership, announced in Cairo on January 23, 2025, during the visit of Somalia's President, Hassan Sheikh Mohamud.
The statement added that Egypt is already proceeding with tangible steps to enhance strategic, economic, and cultural relations with Somalia, aiming to maximize opportunities for cooperation and mutual benefit for both nations.
