Djibouti, 23 October 2025 — Djiboutian police have arrested four women suspected of running a cannabis trafficking network in the Phare d’Ambouli neighbourhood of the capital, following an operation by the Narcotics Brigade, authorities said on Thursday.
According to police sources, the arrests were made after investigators received credible intelligence indicating the existence of a distribution ring operating from several homes used for drug storage and sales.
“The operation resulted in the arrest of four women and the confiscation of several bags of narcotic drugs that had been carefully concealed inside a sack of rice,” police said in a statement.
Initial findings suggest that one of the suspects allegedly took over her husband’s trafficking operations after his imprisonment for similar offences. Investigators believe she continued using his established supply and distribution network.
Police confirmed that all four women were brought before the court and placed in temporary detention pending further legal proceedings.
Officials described the operation as part of ongoing efforts to combat drug trafficking and organized crime in Djibouti-ville.
