Mogadishu (Dawan Africa) – The Banadir Regional Administration has announced the results of the 2024–2025 Grade 8 certificate examinations, with girls securing all three of the top positions, according to official figures released by the administration.
Out of 41,076 students who sat the exams, 38,263 passed. The administration’s data shows 20,830 boys and 17,433 girls achieved passing grades, while 2,813 students — including 1,600 boys and 1,213 girls — did not meet the required mark.
Banadir Governor and Mayor of Mogadishu, Hassan Mohamed Hussein (Muungaab), congratulated all successful students, with special recognition for the top three performers:
1st place: Sakiyo Cabdullaahi Cali Iimaan, Amiir Nuur School, Warta Nabadda district
2nd place: Sahro Axmed Cali Maxamed, Giirre School, Dharkenley district
3rd place: Maymuun Ramadaan Cali Cumar, Imamu Zaylici School, Yaaqshiid district
“We are committed to advancing education, including increasing student enrolment, building new schools, and strengthening cooperation with the education sector as a whole,” said Governor Muungaab.
He noted that during his tenure, he has laid the foundation for five girls-only schools as part of efforts to expand opportunities for female education.
The Banadir Regional Administration said the results demonstrate strong performance overall but emphasised the importance of providing additional support to students who did not pass to help them improve in future examinations.
