Kenya, 23 December 2025 - As the festive season approaches, leaders in western Kenya and the capital city Nairobi have extended warm messages of goodwill to their residents, wishing them peace, joy, and prosperity as they welcome the New Year.
Kisumu County Governor Prof. Anyang’ Nyong’o sent heartfelt greetings to the staff of the County Government and the people of Kisumu County.
“As we look forward to 2026, I wish every resident of Kisumu County a blessed, prosperous, and healthy New Year. May it bring renewed opportunities, personal growth, and collective progress for our County and our nation,” Governor Nyong’o said.
Joining in the festive greetings, Migori Governor Ochilo Ayacko also conveyed his best wishes to the people of Migori County.
“I join my colleague Governor Nyong’o in wishing all residents of Migori a season filled with peace, joy, and good health. Let the coming year bring new opportunities for growth and unity in our communities,” Governor Ayacko stated.
Both governors used the occasion to reaffirm their commitment to ongoing development projects across their counties.
Governor Nyong’o highlighted the county’s focus on infrastructure improvements, healthcare, education, and social programs aimed at enhancing the lives of residents.
Governor Ayacko echoed this, emphasising that Migori County will continue to prioritise development initiatives that promote economic growth and community welfare.
In addition to development efforts, both leaders urged young residents who are yet to acquire official identification documents to take steps to register for national IDs. They stressed the importance of enabling all eligible youth to participate fully in civic life, including the upcoming elections.
“2026 is an opportunity for us to mobilise young people who do not have IDs to register and exercise their democratic rights. Every citizen’s voice matters, and we encourage our youth to actively engage in shaping the future of our counties and nation,” Governor Nyong’o said.
Governor Ayacko on his part said that access to identification is "a key step for our youth to participate in governance, access services, and enjoy their rights".
"We will support efforts to ensure all eligible residents are registered and empowered to vote in the coming elections.”
Both leaders emphasised unity, hope, and community engagement as key pillars for the New Year. Their messages come as county governments continue to work toward improving infrastructure, enhancing public services, and promoting inclusive growth.
