Djibouti, 8 November 2025 - Djiboutian President Ismaïl Omar Guelleh affirmed that his nomination as the candidate of the People’s Rally for Progress Party in next year's elections reflects the free will of the Djiboutian people and their belief in a brighter future for the nation.
In his address at the party’s conference, the president stated that the renewed confidence is the result of a successful national journey that has guided the country toward stability and development.
He stressed that the coming phase requires intensified efforts and teamwork to strengthen national unity and build on the achievements already made.
Guelleh acknowledged the magnitude of the responsibility entrusted to him, pledging to continue working with dedication to fulfill the aspirations of citizens for a prosperous and secure homeland.
He noted that the world is going through a period of complex political and economic transformations, yet Djibouti—thanks to the awareness and resilience of its people—has managed to preserve its stability amid these challenges.
The president called on the Djiboutian people to uphold the values of unity, justice, and equality, declaring his determination to pursue a comprehensive national program that consolidates the foundations of sustainable development and safeguards the country’s stability for a better future for all Djiboutians.
Djibouti is expected hold elections in April next year. President Guelleh has been in power since 1999 and will be seeking his sixth term.
