Hamza Visits Flood-Impacted Areas in Dolow to Assess Humanitarian Situation

The Prime Minister of Somalia, Hamza Abdi Barre, led a delegation to Dolow district in the Gedo region on Monday to assess the humanitarian situation after riverine floods affected thousands of people.

The Prime Minister met with the Deputy President of Jubaland, Mohamud Sayid Aden, other government officials, and community members, including those affected in the region.

Bardhere, Luq, and Bur-dhubo towns in the Gedo region were heavily affected by the floods, and key infrastructures, mainly bridges, collapsed due to this catastrophe.

The Prime Minister affirmed the government’s commitment to providing humanitarian support and taking measures to assist the affected people.

“The government of Somalia, both at the Federal and State levels, is steadfast in providing services to the affected people and easing movements between the towns. We have deployed boats to the areas where floods have affected movements, and we will also provide food items,” said the prime minister.
