Kenya, 16 December 2025 - The ruling United Democratic Alliance (UDA) has rolled out an aggressive nationwide grassroots mobilisation campaign as it positions itself for the 2027 General Election, amid growing political competition.
The drive is being spearheaded by party Secretary General Hassan Omar and senior party officials, who have embarked on a countrywide tour aimed at recruiting new members, strengthening grassroots structures and consolidating support for President William Ruto’s anticipated second-term bid.
Sources familiar with the party’s internal strategy say UDA is keen not to take its incumbency for granted and has opted for early engagement with voters.
The mobilisation is expected to intensify at the start of the new year, when the party leadership plans to traverse all 47 counties before narrowing down to ward-to-ward visits to solidify its base.
Last week, the UDA team pitched camp in the Rift Valley, the party’s traditional stronghold, where it conducted similar mobilisation activities.
The focus has now shifted to Murang’a County in the Mt Kenya region, a key political battleground ahead of 2027.
On Monday, UDA leaders held a mobilisation meeting in Murang’a, bringing together county leadership and representatives from the party’s national office.

The meeting was aimed at reinforcing party structures at the grassroots and rallying members ahead of upcoming grassroots leadership elections.
Addressing supporters, party leaders highlighted the government’s track record in implementing development projects, arguing that UDA remains a strong, cohesive and well-organised political outfit.
They urged members to remain united and continue backing the party’s policies and leadership as preparations for the next election cycle gather momentum.
The leaders emphasised that strengthening grassroots structures is central to UDA’s long-term strategy, noting that a robust party base is essential for sustaining political dominance and ensuring electoral success.
UDA officials also announced that similar mobilisation forums will be held in other counties in the coming weeks, with unity, loyalty and member participation identified as key pillars of the party’s growth strategy.
As the 2027 contest gradually takes shape, the ruling party’s early mobilisation signals its determination to stay ahead of rivals by entrenching its presence at the grassroots and expanding its support base nationwide.
