Tulo Amin, Gedo – (Dawan Africa) – An early-morning clash today in Tulo Amin, a village in Beled-Hawo district, resulted in the death of Jubaland’s Deputy Police Commander, Huseen Wali Ali, according to Jubaland authorities.
The fighting broke out between Somali Federal Government forces, led by Abdirashid Janan, the head of the National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) in Jubaland, and units from the Jubbaland security forces.
Jubaland’s NISA chief, Abdirashid Janan, told the media after the clash that the attack took place this morning and involved federal intelligence, military, and police units. He alleged that Jubaland forces fled into Kenya with their weapons and received logistical support from Kenyan authorities.
“We ask the Kenyan security agencies to return any Somali government weapons that fall into their hands,” Janan said.
The battle left multiple casualties on both sides. Jubaland confirmed that its Deputy Police Commander, Huseen Wali Ali, was killed in the fighting.
The Jubaland Ministry of Security issued a statement on social media confirming his death, blaming the attack on Somali Federal Government forces.
In a separate statement, Somalia’s Ministry of Defense said the attackers were led by Jubaland Vice President Mahamud Sayid Adan. The ministry reported that two federal soldiers were killed and three others wounded in the fighting.
The Somali government also said it had captured ten members of the Jubaland forces involved in the assault.
The incident comes amid months of heightened military tensions in Beled-Hawo, a strategic town in the Gedo region.
