Somalia, 7 October 2025 — Kenya’s Ambassador to Somalia, Kubai Iringo, has praised Somalia for hosting the East African Community Conference (EACON 2025) for a second consecutive year, describing it as a sign of the country’s commitment to regional integration and business cooperation.
“Hosting this conference again shows that Somalia’s government, the Chamber of Commerce, and development partners are truly focused on integrating their businesses with the region,” Ambassador Iringo said in an interview with Dawan Africa.
He highlighted the importance of expanding participation in future conferences to include business leaders, Chamber of Commerce representatives, and other stakeholders from across East Africa.
“Next time, invite more speakers from other East African countries, particularly from Chambers of Commerce, because those are the people Somalis need to work with to grow their economy and open new business channels,” he said.
Ambassador Iringo also commended Somalia’s ambition to align with regional peers, noting that the country’s proactive approach is important for regional integration.
“Somalia wants to penetrate, learn, and reach the level of other countries. The speed at which the country is moving is impressive,” he added.
He urged organizers to continue expanding the conference’s reach to attract more foreign participants, including traders, businesspeople, and regional Chamber of Commerce leaders, to foster stronger cross-border economic collaboration.
“Let’s broaden participation further so that these conferences become a true platform for integration and economic growth across the East African Community,” Ambassador Iringo added.
