Eastleigh, Nairobi(Mogadishu24)-Detectives have apprehended Hashim Dagane Muhumed, the main suspect in the brutal murder of three family members—a mother, her daughter, and her 12-year-old niece—in Eastleigh.
Following a dedicated investigation and manhunt, Muhumed was located and taken into custody. He is set to be arraigned tomorrow at Makadara Chief Magistrates Court.
The suspect was captured on CCTV driving a Nissan Note (Reg. No. KDQ 718Y), which was recorded picking up the victims from their home on October 21, 2024.
Shortly after, their bodies were discovered in separate locations across Nairobi, with one victim's severed hands found in South C. The vehicle, later abandoned near Wakulima Market, was transported to the DCI headquarters for forensic analysis, further implicating Muhumed in the crime.
The murders have deeply impacted the Eastleigh community, sparking protests and calls for justice. Kamukunji MP Yusuf Hassan and Nairobi Senator Edwin Sifuna joined the demonstrators, urging police to increase security measures and expedite justice.
The DCI has committed to a thorough investigation, emphasizing their focus on delivering justice to the grieving families and the wider community shaken by the tragedy.
