Kenya, November 22, 2025 - Deputy President Prof. Kithure Kindiki has stated that the Mbeere North by-election will determine the speed and continuity of key development projects currently being rolled out by the national government in the constituency.
Prof. Kindiki, who campaigned for United Democratic Alliance (UDA) candidate Leonard Wamuthende Leo in Ngiiri and Kyenire on Saturday, said the government is implementing multi-billion-shilling programs aimed at transforming infrastructure, water access, electrification, and education outcomes in the region.
He emphasized that only a candidate aligned with the government can ensure the ongoing projects are completed on schedule and that more investments are attracted to the constituency.
“The future of development in Mbeere North depends on choosing a leader who will work with the government. We want these roads, water projects, electricity connections, and modern markets to be completed without interruption,” he said.
Kindiki highlighted the tarmacking of key roads, expansion of water pipelines, and rollout of rural electrification as evidence of the government’s commitment to uplifting the constituency, noting that the projects were already at advanced stages.
He added that Wamuthende has demonstrated a deep understanding of the development priorities of local residents and is best positioned to champion them in Parliament.
“It is only Leo who has committed to supporting bursaries for all students from Mbeere North. Education remains a critical pillar of development, and the bursary program must continue,” Kindiki said.

The Deputy President urged voters to safeguard the gains already made by electing a leader who will cooperate with the Kenya Kwanza administration, warning that choosing an opposition-aligned candidate could frustrate the flow and completion of major projects.
“We will not abandon the people of Mbeere North, but we need a partner who will work with us. Your vote will determine how fast we complete what we have started,” he said.
Kindiki reassured residents that the region will not be sidelined, saying the government is committed to reversing historical underinvestment and unlocking the constituency’s economic potential.
He encouraged voters to turn out in large numbers on Thursday and elect Wamuthende, promising accelerated delivery of development programs.
“We will not forget the support of Mbeere North. We will complete ongoing projects and bring many more to the constituency,” he said.
