Dubai(Mogadishu24)-Djiboutian President, Ismail Omar Guelleh pleaded for greater solidarity among the nations of the world in the face of the consequences of global warming at the United Nations Climate Conference, COP 28 in Dubai yesterday on Friday.
During his speech at COP28, the President highlighted the country's efforts to reduce emissions and adapt to the impacts of climate change. Among other things, the construction of a wind farm and a dedicated regional observatory were emphasized. The goal is to achieve 100% clean energy by 2035.
The President, however, warned that global warming is increasing inequality and weakening public health, with the emergence of new diseases. That's why he advocated for more international solidarity and respect for financial commitments of developed countries, to enable vulnerable countries like Djibouti to adapt to the dramatic consequences of climate disruption.
