Somalia, 7 November 2025 — Puntland State has strongly denied reports alleging its involvement in the ongoing conflict in Sudan, describing the claims as baseless propaganda aimed at damaging the Federal Member State’s reputation and its relations with neighboring countries.
In a press statement issued by the Ministry of Interior, Puntland said it has no connection whatsoever to the conflict in Sudan and accused the Federal Government of Somalia of spreading false and misleading information.
“Sudan is a brotherly nation, and we are deeply saddened by the civil war taking place there. We wish for peace and stability to return as soon as possible,” the statement read.
The Puntland administration also clarified that there are no troops or militias within its territory secretly cooperating with the Federal Government, nor any existing security arrangements between the two sides.
Somalia’s Minister of Defense, Ahmed Moalim Fiqi, recently claimed that aircraft departing from Puntland airports had flown toward western Sudan, though he admitted the contents of those flights were yet to be verified.
Former Somali Foreign Minister Abdisalan Muse Ali had also accused the Puntland administration of facilitating Emirati cargo flights allegedly carrying weapons to the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) fighting against the Sudanese government.
