Bosaso (Dawan Africa) – Puntland Counter-Terrorism Operations announced that its forces have arrested two individuals identified as members of ISIS while attempting to secretly enter Bosaso, the region’s main port city.
“Our forces have captured two fleeing ISIS terrorists attempting to secretly enter Bosaso,” the unit stated on its official X account.
According to the counter-terrorism unit, both men are Ethiopian nationals. One of the suspects spoke limited Somali and claimed to have escaped from ISIS. Authorities said the men were found carrying only dry food and bottled water.
The arrests occurred in the Calmiskaad area, where Puntland security forces are actively conducting operations against militant groups.
Puntland officials reiterated that counter-terrorism operations against ISIS and Al-Shabaab in the Bari region will continue, focusing on dismantling militant hideouts in remote and strategic locations.
