The Government of Djibouti has on Wednesday opened a two-day conference convening a diverse group of over 60 individuals, including leaders, intellectuals, and researchers from the Horn of Africa nations.
The conference, which is taking place at the Escale International Hotel in Djibouti, aims to analyze the current state of regional integration in the Horn of Africa, with a specific focus on identifying patterns, challenges, and prospects. Among the challenges being addressed are emerging issues related to peace, security, regional financial stability, and counterterrorism strategies. The primary objective of the conference is to foster regional cooperation and collaboration, enabling the effective resolution of these pressing obstacles.
Djibouti's Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, expressed his appreciation as he shared his experience attending the opening ceremony of a conference on regional integration in the Horn of Africa.“I had the honour and privilege to attend the opening ceremony of a conference on regional integration in the Horn of Africa held this morning in Escale international hotel in Djibouti,” said Mahamoud Ali Youssouf, Djibouti’s Minister of Foreign Affiars and International Cooperation.
In his address to the attendees, Minister Youssouf underscored the significance of the summit and emphasized the need to strengthen and promote collaboration among the countries of the Horn of Africa. He called for united efforts to combat terrorism and promote lasting peace and stability throughout the region.
Furthermore, the minister urged the leaders of these nations to join forces and engage in political cooperation to find viable solutions to the prevailing political instabilities within the region.
The Government of Djibouti has consistently played a pivotal role in hosting meetings focused on regional integration among the countries within the Horn of Africa. These meetings have facilitated crucial discussions on a wide range of topics, including regional peace and security, collaborative efforts in maritime affairs, fostering business partnerships, promoting environmental and climate change cooperation, as well as strengthening ties between the participating nations.
