Mogadishu (Dawan Africa) – Somalia’s National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) announced on Friday that it carried out three coordinated operations in the Middle Shabelle region, killing at least 13 members of the Al-Shabaab terrorist group, including both fighters and commanders.
The operations, which took place in the early hours of Friday, targeted Al-Shabaab militants while they were in the process of mobilizing. The forces also destroyed tents and a weapons cache that had been hidden under trees by the militants.
According to NISA’s statement, the first operation, carried out in the village of Raage Elle, resulted in the death of four terrorists. In the second operation, which took place in the Hawaala-kulan and Reydableey areas, five militants were killed. The third operation, carried out in the town of El-Baraf, led to the elimination of four terrorists.
Al-Shabaab has been waging an insurgency against the Somali government for more than 16 years, frequently targeting government officials, military personnel, and civilians.
