Somalia, 19 November 2025 — Somalia’s Ministry of Defence says its forces carried out an overnight operation in Buula Madiina, Afgooye district in Lower Shabelle, killing three Al-Shabaab fighters and rescuing 30 civilians.
In a statement released on Wednesday, the ministry said the rescued civilians included two women who had been held hostage.
The operation was conducted by Special Forces targeting what the statement described as an “illegal detention site” and a makeshift court allegedly operated by the militant group.

The ministry said the site was destroyed during the raid, which it said forms part of wider efforts to dismantle Al-Shabab’s presence and disrupt its control over rural communities.
The statement added that security operations will continue across the region to maintain pressure on the group.
