Somalia, 8 January 2026 Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud has warned that the government, in collaboration with the people and its international partners, will take action against Israel's recognition of Somaliland.
"The Somali government, working with its people and international partners, will take measures to prevent Israel's violation," the President said.
He however did not specify the actions Somalia will take against the Israel-Somaliland agreement.

The statement was part of a speech the President delivered in Mogadishu this evening, where he addressed issues related to Somaliland and Israel's actions. He warned the people of northern regions, under Somaliland's control, about the potential threat posed by Israel.
The President's remarks come at a time when political tensions in the region are rising. The Somali government is focusing on safeguarding national interests and is also engaging with the international community to ensure the protection of international law.
The President emphasized unity and vigilance, underlining the government's determination to defend Somalia's borders and national integrity.
