Somalia, 17 December 2025 - The National Intelligence and Security Agency (NISA) has announced that it killed 9 Al-Shabaab militants in an airstrike carried out in the Tardo area of Hiiraan region, with the support of international partners.
A press release from NISA, issued last night, stated that the operation was a planned strike based on intelligence gathered by the agency. The operation resulted in the killing of militants and the destruction of an Al-Shabaab stronghold.
According to NISA, the operation is part of Somalia's ongoing fight against Al-Shabaab, with support from international partners. Somali President Hassan Sheikh has previously stated that the government will focus on airstrikes against the group.
