Mogadishu (Dawan Africa) – The Somali Salvation Forum has sharply criticized the Federal Government’s decision to withdraw from long-standing international coordination mechanisms, warning that the move endangers national stability and weakens Somalia’s critical global partnerships.
In a press statement issued on June 12, 2025, the opposition coalition responded to President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud’s recent declaration to replace the C6+ framework with a strictly bilateral approach. The Forum argued that such a shift risks isolating Somalia diplomatically and undermines efforts to jointly confront pressing security, political, and humanitarian challenges.
“This abrupt move marks a reckless departure from the productive partnership and deflects attention from the administration’s growing political isolation and its persistent failure to engage constructively with Somali stakeholders,” the statement read.
The C6+ platform — which includes key partners such as the United Nations, African Union, European Union, and other international stakeholders — has long served as a cornerstone for coordinating aid, security support, and governance reforms in Somalia. The Forum stressed that abandoning this structure not only erodes trust with international allies but also threatens to reverse hard-won diplomatic and institutional progress.
