Somalia, 8 December 2025 – The Police Commissioner of Banadir Region, Mahdi Omar Mumin, today warned that security officers will repossess government land whenever necessary, and anyone attempting to obstruct operations will face the full of the law.
The warning was issued as the Inspector General of Somali Police, Asad Osman Abdullahi, laid the foundation stone for the new headquarters of the Force's General Division in Banadir Region. The parcel of land was vacated by local residents who had occupied it after the government issued quit orders.
The Police Commissioner warned that anyone trying to defy government orders, creating unrest on government land or spreading false information through the media will be held accountable under the law.

“If government land is needed, it does not require your permission. Anyone who illegally encroaches on it will be brought to justice,” he said.
He added that anyone who has been relocated from public land should be grateful to the government for the period they were able to live there, while urging respect for the law and citizens’ rights regarding government property.
