Ankara(Mogadishu24)-Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud met with Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan in Ankara to discuss strengthening bilateral relations and joint efforts to promote regional stability and prosperity. The meeting was part of President Mohamud's ongoing diplomatic tour, which included significant international engagements.
The discussions between President Mohamud and Minister Fidan focused on enhancing cooperation in various sectors, including security, trade, and development. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to deepening the strategic partnership between Somalia and Turkey.
Minister Fidan emphasized Turkey’s commitment to supporting Somalia's development and security initiatives.
Prior to his visit to Turkey, President Mohamud participated in the Summit on Peace in Ukraine, held in Switzerland from June 15-16, 2024. The summit convened over 100 Heads of State, government representatives, and organizations to discuss solutions for peace in Ukraine. The President also attended the Oslo Forum 2024, themed “Mediation against all odds,” which brought together global leaders, conflict mediators, and key stakeholders.
President Mohamud's visit to Turkey marks the final leg of his diplomatic tour this month, reflecting Somalia’s active engagement in international diplomacy and efforts to foster strong partnerships worldwide.
