Somalia, 4 January 2026— Somalia’s Ministry of Defence reported on Sunday that Danab Special Forces killed 15 Al Shabaab militants and captured eight others in a targeted night operation in Jilib district.
According to the ministry, the operation demonstrated the Somali National Army’s growing operational capacity, including the use of air mobility to engage insurgents across multiple locations.
The Ministry of Defence commended the professionalism and readiness of the forces involved and reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to counterterrorism efforts until Al-Shabaab is fully dismantled and lasting peace and stability are achieved in Somalia.
