Malabo (Dawan Africa) – Somalia’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Abdisalam Abdi Ali,, represented President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud at the 7th Mid-Year Coordination Meeting (MYCM) of the African Union (AU), held in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea on Sunday.
The high-level meeting gathered heads of state and senior officials from AU Member States, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), Regional Mechanisms (RMs), and key institutional representatives from across the African continent. The MYCM aims to advance continental integration by aligning and coordinating efforts between the African Union, RECs, and RMs, focusing on a shared vision of unity and development.
The theme of the 2025 summit was “Justice for Africans and People of African Descent through Reparations,” reflecting the ongoing push for justice and equity across the continent.
In his remarks, Minister Abdisalam emphasized Somalia's commitment to working towards a just, united, and economically integrated Africa. “Somalia is fully committed to achieving a just, united, and economically integrated African continent. We must work collectively to ensure equal rights, dignity, and opportunity for every African,” he stated.
The MYCM, which was first introduced in 2017, serves as a platform for the African Union and RECs to synchronize their activities and implement Africa’s integration agenda jointly.
