Qatar, 9 December 2025 – Somalia and Qatar held the inaugural meeting of their Joint Supreme Committee in Doha on Monday, signing agreements to boost cooperation in customs, youth, agriculture, and culture, officials said.
The Qatari delegation was led by Minister of State for Foreign Affairs Sultan bin Saad Al Muraikhi, while the Somali delegation was headed by Foreign Minister Abdisalam Abdi Ali.
The meeting followed a preparatory session held in Doha on 6 November, 2024, during which the Qatari side was led by Director of the Arab Affairs Department at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Nayef bin Abdullah Al Emadi, and the Somali side by Director of Arab Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Mohamed Hassan Mohamed.

During the Monday’s meeting, the two governments signed an agreement on mutual administrative assistance for customs enforcement, and memoranda of understanding on youth collaboration, agriculture and food security, and cultural exchange.
Officials said the agreements aim to formalize sector-level cooperation and strengthen bilateral relations between the two countries.
