Ethiopia, 8 November 2025 -The Youth Affairs Office of the Interim Government of Tigray has issued an urgent appeal to the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Ethiopian Red Cross Society, warning that Ethiopian migrants stranded in Yemen are facing a “serious and worsening humanitarian crisis.”
In a letter addressed to both organizations, the office said it was writing “with a deep sense of urgency and grave concern” over the life-threatening conditions endured by tens of thousands of migrants, including a large number of young people from Tigray.
The office noted that many of them had embarked on perilous journeys in search of better opportunities but now find themselves trapped in extreme danger.
According to the office, the migrants in Yemen are being subjected to forced deportations and threats.
