December 19, 2025 - Wajir North Member of Parliament Ibrahim Saney has hit out at Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale, saying he will not be a blind sycophant to the government.
Addressing a press briefing, the lawmaker accused the CS of blocking politicians from the North Eastern region from accessing President William Ruto, insisting that supporting the government does not mean remaining silent on issues affecting their electorates.
“I was with President Ruto when almost everybody ran to the other side. My loyalty to the government is not in question, but I will not sit back and fail to point out issues affecting the people who elected us,” Saney said.
The remarks come amid growing tension between CS Duale and several leaders from the region, including Wajir Governor and some Members of Parliament, whom Duale has accused of warming up to the opposition.
Speaking recently in Habaswein, Duale accused some regional politicians of courting the opposition, whom he claimed have previously labelled people from the region as foreigners.
Duale said President Ruto’s administration had restored dignity and honour to the people of North Eastern, adding that the President means well for the country.
“There are people who are jealous. When your brother has a better seat, you should be proud of him. Stop being jealous. Leadership positions come from God,” Duale told the crowd.

However, Saney maintained that he would not offer blind support to the government and would continue to call out shortcomings, even as Duale campaigns for President Ruto’s re-election.
“The CS has brought disunity in Garissa, planted seeds of discord in Wajir, and is now doing the same in Mandera. I don’t know why he is fighting me. I am junior to him politically, and he should mentor me instead of fighting me,” the MP said.
Saney urged President Ruto to rein in his Cabinet Secretary, warning that such conduct could alienate the region ahead of the President’s bid for a second term.
“He should accommodate and respect everyone and carry all leaders along. If he doesn’t, he risks disenfranchising the region,” he added.
The Wajir North lawmaker further asked President Ruto to speak to the former Garissa Township MP and urge him to stop fighting regional leaders and instead focus on improving healthcare services.
Saney also accused Duale of boasting about his wealth at a time when the region is grappling with a severe drought, calling on him to help address the crisis affecting his home region.
