Somalia, 13 November 2025 — The Somaliland-based youth development organization, Y-PEER, has awarded 33 young men and women with business start-up kits, following the completion of a three-month vocational training program.
The ceremony, held at Y-PEER’s headquarters in Hargeisa on Wednesday, recognized participants who had completed technical courses and presented innovative business ideas.
Recipients received equipment to launch small businesses in areas such as tailoring, beauty services, lighting, and multimedia.
The Executive Director of Y-PEER, Mohamed Mahad Dhamac said the organization would continue supporting young entrepreneurs during the early stages of their ventures, including assisting with rental spaces.

Somaliland’s ministries of Employment and Social Affairs, Youth and Sports, and Education and Science also provided crucial support.
Y-PEER, under the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), was founded in 2000 as an international network of youth peer educators.
