1 January 2026 - The Ademasajida community on Wednesday evening formally endorsed Wardere Hassan Abdikarin as its preferred candidate for Wajir County Senator in the 2027 general election.
On the last day of the year 2025, senior elders, respected professionals, religious leaders, youth representatives, and women leaders gathered to present Mr Wardere with an official certificate of endorsement, signalling their collective confidence in his leadership.
The event was marked by vibrant celebrations, with traditional performances, ululations, and festivities.
The venue was lively, underscoring the strong political momentum behind his candidacy.
The endorsement marks Mr Wardere's formal entry into the senatorial race, following more than two decades of distinguished service in humanitarian and development work.
A well-known figure in Wajir politics, Mr Wardere previously served as running mate to Mohamed Elmi in the 2022 gubernatorial contest. Their bid was unsuccessful.

Speaking to journalists after receiving the endorsement, Mr Wardere outlined his next steps.
"I intend to pursue broader consultations and endorsements, starting with the Ajuran community and extending to all residents of Wajir County," he said.
He stressed the importance of unity, describing Wajir as a non-tribal society united by shared aspirations.
The seasoned politician also announced plans to establish one of the most professional and inclusive campaign secretariats in the county's history, drawing leadership from across its social and political spectrum.
He pledged to contest every vote in the 2027 general election on the basis of a distinctive, people-centred manifesto.
