Nairobi(Mogadishu24)-The African Development Bank (AfDB) has pledged over $18 million to support Somalia's sustainable development goals, focusing on climate resilience. The agreement was formalized today with Somali Minister of Finance, Bihi Iman Egeh, who emphasized the critical nature of this funding for the nation.
"It was an honour to sign the over $18 million Multinational Climate Disaster Risk Financing Project agreement with the African Development Bank today. This is crucial and will support Somalia's climate resilience and most affected communities. Mobilising climate finance is a key priority," stated Minister Egeh.
The funding will be directed towards enhancing Somalia’s ability to withstand climate-related disasters and providing support to communities most impacted by climate change. This initiative aligns with Somalia's broader goals of achieving sustainable development and improving the livelihoods of its citizens.
The project marks a significant step in Somalia's efforts to address climate challenges and underscores the importance of international cooperation in fostering resilience and sustainable development.
