Mogadishu, 5 October 2025 — On fourth October, Al-Shabaab, an Al-Qaeda-linked group, attacked the Jilacow Investigation Center in the Banadir region of Somalia, using military-style vehicles to bypass security checkpoints.
The Somali National Army repelled the attack, killing all seven militants.
"The attackers used a vehicle painted in the same colors and marked with the insignia of the security forces, which made it easier for them to pass through security checkpoints," the army stated.
The Ministry of Internal Security highlighted the need for stricter security measures.
"This incident underscores the need for more thorough inspection of vehicles and personnel entering sensitive locations within the capital," the ministry said.
The Ministry also extended condolences to the families of the fallen security personnel, concluding, "We send our condolences to the families of the brave soldiers and security forces who lost their lives defending the capital."
The attack highlights ongoing threats posed by Al-Shabaab and calls for enhanced security in high-risk areas of Mogadishu, Somalia.
