AU, UN Officials Discuss Critical Phase 3 of ATMIS Drawdown in Somalia

Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Officials from the African Union Transition Mission in Somalia (ATMIS) and the United Nations on Sunday met in Mogadishu to discuss the critical next steps in Somalia's security transition.

The meeting between Ambassador Souef Mohamed Elamine, head of ATMIS, and Mr. Raisedon Zenenga, the Deputy Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Somalia, centered on the execution of ATMIS's Phase 3 drawdown and the handover of security responsibilities to Somali forces.

They explored strategies for ensuring a stable and secure Somalia post-ATMIS, emphasizing the importance of collaboration with the Federal Government and international partners.
