Mogadishu(Mogadishu24)-Benadir regional court on Wednesday sentenced Sayid Ali Moallim Da'ud to death after finding him guilty of being behind of burning down his pregnant wife, Luul Abdiaziz to death in Dharkenlay district in Benadir region on January 26, 2024.
Chairperson of the Court, Salah Ali Mohamud announced the verdict, meaning the case file of the homicide incident was completely concluded, adding that if the other part if is not satisfied with court decision, they could take an appeal within the given legal period.
Thousands of people who were watching the live coverages of the TV stations from the court room, welcomed the decision, demanding an immediate execution of the murderer, Sayid Ali Moalim Da'ud and described the verdict to be justice.
"When you are told that you will not staying in this world and all people pleased to your death", Mohamed Yare said on Facebook comment.
"It is a fair and successful judgement, Luul Abdiaziz, the victim received justice", Ahmed and many others expressed the same in Facebook comments during the life coverage.
The family of the victim welcomed the court's decision, saying they will also wait for the execution of the murderer, in order to bury both their daughter and her husband at the same time.
The deceased, Luul Abdiaziz still remained in the mortuary fridge yet because her parents rejected to bury until they would get justice for their daughter.
He married Luul Abdiazis Mohamed, a widow with six children working at Mogadishu International Airport after the death of her former husband in 2023. Her killing case created public outrage across the country as well as the world.
Sayid Ali, the murderer escaped and fled to areas under Galmudug State in Somalia after killing his wife in Dharkenlay district in Mogadishu, but local community, regional authorities and Federal Police arrested him and brought Mogadishu to face charges against his crime according to the police.
According to sources close to Sayid Ali's family, his lawyer confirmed to the media that they taken an appeal from today's court decision.
