Ethiopia, 25 November 2025 - Ethiopia’s Ministry of Transport and Logistics has announced an ambitious expansion plan for Ethiopian Airlines, targeting 67 million passengers by 2035 as part of a long-term strategy to solidify the national carrier’s position as the leading carrier on the continent.
The plan was unveiled during the 5th Annual General Assembly of the African Association of Aviation Training Organizations held in Addis Ababa.
State Minister for Transport and Logistics Denge Boru said the new vision focuses on developing airport infrastructure, upgrading existing facilities, expanding cargo terminals, streamlining services, and widening the airline’s domestic and regional airport network.

He emphasized that the success of the plan depends on greater investment in training programs for pilots and cabin crews, in addition to strengthening partnerships between the ministry, the aviation academy, the civil aviation authority, and universities.
These efforts aim to build an advanced training ecosystem capable of meeting the airline’s rapid growth needs in the coming decade.
