Ethiopia,12 November 2025 - Ethiopian Deputy Prime Minister Temesgen Teronieh affirmed that industrial expansion is the cornerstone for achieving economic sovereignty and enhancing self-sufficiency, stressing the government’s commitment to advancing the structural transformation from agriculture to industry.
During his visit to the Debre Berhan Industrial City, Teronieh noted that Ethiopia is witnessing rapid growth in the manufacturing sector, with new factories being opened and existing ones expanding their capacities — including the recently launched “Brown Foods” maize processing plant.
He explained that the factory embodies integration between local farmers and industry, as it replaces imported goods with high-quality local products and strengthens food security by producing vitamin- and mineral-rich maize-based foods.

Teronieh pointed out that the new industrial projects fall within a national vision aimed at building a solid production base linking agriculture, industry, and services, while creating thousands of direct and indirect job opportunities for young people across the country.
He concluded by stressing that industrial expansion will not be limited to major cities but will extend to all regions, ensuring balanced economic development and enhancing Ethiopia’s competitiveness in regional and international markets.
