Kenya, 23 December 2025 - Western Kenya mourns the passing of Dr Enoch Wamalwa Kibunguchy, former Member of Parliament for Likuyani, whose life was a testament to service, integrity, and deep compassion.
Dr Kibunguchy passed away after a period of illness, leaving behind a legacy that touched countless lives, from hospital wards to village classrooms, from community gatherings to the halls of Parliament.
The current Likuyani MP Innocent Mugabe mourned his passing.
"It is with deep sorrow and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Dr Enock Wamalwa Kibunguchy, the immediate former Member of Parliament for Likuyani Constituency, following a period of illness," he posted on X.
"Rest in peace Mheshimiwa."
Before his political journey, Dr Kibunguchy dedicated himself to medicine.
As a physician, he served with patience and care, earning the trust and admiration of colleagues and patients alike.
Those who were fortunate to meet him in his medical career recall a man who never rushed a patient, who listened intently, and who offered reassurance with a steady and calming presence. For him, healing was never just about medicine; it was about compassion, dignity, and respect for every life he encountered.
In 2003, he answered the call to serve his people on a broader scale, stepping into the political arena as a Member of Parliament.
Later, he became the founding MP for Likuyani, representing the constituency for two consecutive terms. Throughout his time in public office, Dr. Kibunguchy’s approach was defined not by ambition or spectacle but by quiet, steady leadership. He believed in listening first, understanding the needs of his people, and translating those concerns into tangible improvements in education, health services, and local infrastructure.

Education, in particular, held a special place in his heart. He understood that opportunities for learning could transform lives, and he devoted himself to supporting schools, students, and teachers alike.
For the youth of Likuyani, he was more than a leader; he was a symbol of hope, someone who believed in their potential and worked to create pathways for them to succeed.
Yet, perhaps what most defined Dr Kibunguchy was his humanity. He never forgot the names of constituents, the stories of families, or the struggles of the everyday person. He walked among his people with humility, engaging not as a distant politician but as a neighbor, a mentor, and a friend. His life bridged the worlds of medicine and politics, always guided by the principle that true leadership is rooted in empathy and service.
Colleagues, friends, and community members remember him as a man of wisdom and integrity, someone whose counsel was sought and valued. Even in difficult debates or complex decisions, he remained calm and measured, ensuring that the voices of the people he served were always heard. He believed that public office was not a platform for personal gain but a responsibility to uplift and nurture the community.
Dr Kibunguchy’s passing leaves an irreplaceable void. His presence is missed in classrooms, clinics, markets, and town halls alike. But while he is gone, the values he embodied endure — dedication, humility, and an unwavering commitment to the greater good. His legacy is etched in the schools he supported, the health services he strengthened, and the countless lives he touched with his kindness and leadership.
As family, friends, and constituents gather to honour his memory, they celebrate not just the milestones of his career but the man he was. He indeed was a healer, a leader, a mentor, and a friend to many.
In remembering Dr Enoch Kibunguchy, they recall a life lived fully in service to others, a life that inspired respect, admiration, and deep affection. His story reminds all of us that true greatness is measured not by titles or accolades but by the positive impact we leave in the lives of those around us.
Dr Kibunguchy may have departed, but his spirit, his values, and his love for his community will continue to resonate, inspiring future generations to serve with the same humility, compassion, and dedication that defined his remarkable life.
