President Herzog also posted on social media following the meeting:
More from Somalia
"I welcome the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two nations and look forward to deepening bilateral cooperation that benefits our peoples."
The meeting follows Israel’s decision in late 2025 to officially recognize Somaliland’s independence.
Somaliland, a self-declared republic located in the Horn of Africa, has long sought international recognition. Establishing formal relations with Israel is seen as a key step in strengthening its international engagement.
